Framing Problems, Shipping Solutions
Frame the right problem before AI helps you solve the wrong one.
Put human-centered problem-solving to work with AI
Framing Problems, Shipping Solutions is a practical program for LUMA alumni who want to bring AI into their everyday problem-solving. You’ll revisit familiar LUMA methods and practice using AI to understand challenges, expand ideas, and move solutions toward action with human discernment in the lead.
AI can help teams generate ideas quickly. This program helps you get clear on the problem first, strengthen promising ideas, and choose what to move forward.
Program structure
The program is one four-hour working session for up to 20 participants. Participants work in small groups on a shared, pre-defined AI scenario and use it to practice the steps below.
The session is available as a public online program or private program; remote or in person. Two instructors lead each session.
How it works
Frame
Start with an AI-related challenge and clarify the real need behind the request before jumping to a solution.
Expand
Use AI to bring in new perspectives, question assumptions, and stress-test your framing.
Strengthen
Develop and test ideas with peers, human discernment, and AI. Use AI to build on your thinking rather than replace it.
Align
Build shared insight across groups, then agree on which solution to move forward and how.
Throughout the program, you’ll practice deciding when AI helps and when human discernment, empathy, or expertise should lead.
What you’ll take away
- A reframed problem statement: A clear, human-centered framing of a real AI challenge.
- A tested solution concept: An idea strengthened with peers and AI, plus a next step to move it forward.
- An AI-enabled practice guide: Prompts and approaches for using AI alongside the LUMA methods you know.
- A program badge.
