LUMA is currently seeking an Instructor to join our Teaching and Learning Team. This role is charged with delivering world-class design thinking training, resources and support to our clients and partners as they learn the LUMA System.

How you will contribute

  • Leverage personal experience applying human-centered design to your work.
  • Work with clients, participants, and other instructors to deliver memorable learning experiences, leveraging established and emerging LUMA offerings.
  • Prepare training materials and agendas, and adapt as needed to meet the needs of any given situation.
  • Serve as an ongoing presence and coach to future LUMA and Client instructors learning the LUMA System.
  • Mentor future LUMA and Client instructors in the subject matter, content, and course delivery techniques across LUMA offerings.
  • Represent the LUMA brand, ensuring quality and consistency throughout the life cycle of an offering.
  • Potential of traveling to support meetings or workshops (up to 50% travel, as travel resumes).
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Experience applying human-centered design: Drawing on real-life, personal examples of application; Getting hands-on with methods in the classroom; Having the ability to make connections across domains.
  • Passion for teachingBelieves in the content; Is intrinsically motivated; Is sincere and empathetic to each individual learner.
  • Articulate: Brings their own voice; Is a good storyteller; Is an engaging speaker; Is a dynamic presenter.
  • Experience with tangible skills: Teaching, Facilitation and Coaching; Visual thinking; Time management.
  • Responsive: Can read an audience and adjust delivery; Anticipates participants’ needs.
  • Good at listeningIs receptive to feedback; Is a good “bandmate,” i.e., team player and co-teacher.
  • Confident: Projects confidence and credibility; Has internalized the content.
  • Quick on their feetHas the ability to improvise; Can respond to curveballs; Can manage challenging participants.
  • Well-versed in business culture and mindsetUnderstands the language of business; Has organizational insight and political savvy.
  • Availability: Ability to work Monday–Friday, daylight hours (may need to work outside core operating hours as requested).
